SANUR BEACH

Sanur Beach Resort is an alternative tourism if you look for 3S. Sea, Sand and Sun. Compared with Kuta, Sanur Area furnished more expensive accommodation facilities, but still cheaper than Nusa Dua Resort. Hotel at Sanur usually have furnished AC and swimming pool facilities. There are many restaurants and cafes all along the beach so the tourists need no pay in high price to get eating in Hotel. The tourists are able to buy some souvenirs, clothes, statue and other handicrafts.

Sanur have wide beach with white sand and some sea sport facilities such as windsurfing, parasailing and rowing. Sanur beach is rocking beach. If it get ebb tide, the tourists able to walking the beach with water high as knee. But, if you want to swimming you should wait until the sea level rose up. Diving is not interesting at Sanur but the coral reef become as gathering place for fishes. The tourists can see it if they have snorkeling.

Other activities that able to do at Sanur are Bowling and Golf that you can find it at Grand Bali Beach Hotel. Taman festival Bali Nature Preserve is a good place for Children

At Sanur, tourists are able to visit “Le Mayeur Museum”. It shows many painting by Adrien Jean Le Mayeur de Merpes. He is an artist from Belgian who has stayed in Sanur at 1935 until 1958 when this place still a quite angler’s village. His calm and elegant house located on the border of beach but at present, his house stands on between 2 hotels, Grand Bali Beach Hotel and Diwingkara Beach Hotel. The paintings in this museum were made during his travel around the world. Painting about Balinese people’s activities and beautiful women of Bali were made at his first arrival. His paintings are very interesting but unfortunately, they are careless.

Different with Kuta, Sanur is more calm and quite. However, Sanur also has night entertainment even not crowded as Kuta. Here, tourists can visit Rumours Night Club on Pantai Sindhuyang Street. Many youngers visit this place. They usually companied by local younger. Bali Janger Discotheque always visited by Yuppies Community from Denpasar and foreign tourists that come with their couple from local girls or boys. No. 1 Club Night Entertainment is popular too at Sanur.

Sanur Bech range lies from north to south as far as 3 km. On the north of beach, there is Grand Bali Bach Hotel that big and luxurious. This hotel has a golf field. On the south of beach, there are some hotels, restaurants and handicraft shops in row looks out on the sea. For shopping, you can visit shop complex at Ngurah Rai Bypass Street. There are many antique goods galleries. If you look for clothes and souvenirs, the right place for you are Jaya Kesuma Art Market, Double U Department Store, Sanur Beach Market, Sindhu Art Market or Dayang Art Market.

TRUNYAN AND BALI AGA

From on the top of Panelokan, tourists can see a little village, on border of Batur Lake, on the foot of steep hill. There is Trunyan Village that has dwelt by Bali Aga People. Bali Aga People are Balinese pure people before Majapahit people arrived at Bali. Near by Trunyan, at Kuban there is cemetery complex of Bali Aga people that just able to reach by motorboat. Truyan people do not burn or bury death person but just put it down in a bamboo cage. The body will be dissolved by itself but It do not appear any smell.

SANGEH

Sangeh is 20 km to the north of Denpasar. Near by Sangeh there is Bukit Sari Monkeys Jungle. There is a temple at this jungle named Bukit Sari Pura that has a Old Garudha Statue. Beware, monkeys will jump to your body if you save peanut in your pocket and you do not give it to them immediately. Monkeys of Sangeh are famous with naughty Monkeys. They often pick hat, sunglasses and even tourist’s belt. Walking in Sangeh Jungle Area will feel comfortable, green and fresh. They are funny monkeys but sometimes they are very naughty and shameless. This Jungle Area is opened everyday at 07.30 am until 06.30 pm.

TANAH LOT

Tanah Lot Tourism Resort is one of the most popular places in Bali. There are a Pura stand on a little rock island and become as photography object. The name is Pura Luhur Bali. Many tourists visit this place, especially before sunset moment, because the beautiful and wonderful scenery. There are Holy Snake Gave and Holy Spring Gave. For Balinese People, Pura Luhur at Tanah Lot is a Respectable temple but unfortunately, this place has become a commercial resort and full with many shops and traveler merchant. There are many restaurants with high price at Tanah Lot

SERANGAN ISLAND

This island is located on the south of Sanur Beach and popular as Sea turtle Island because many sea turtle put their eggs at the east beach of this island. This island has 2 villages. Pojok and Dukuh village and a temple named Sakenan Pura. Taking a walk around of Serangan Island is very excited because there are no car transportation here. The south area of this island has a beautiful beach and furnished snorkeling facilities.

CANGU

Cangu Beach Area popular with good surfing place because of it’s good wave. So many surfers come here. The surfers usually gather at a café near by the beach. The café become as Base for taking a rest after surfing. At Cangu, just there is one luxurious hotel, “Tugu Beach Hotel” with very expensive price. This hotel offer many luxurious service and facilities that will make you enjoy and satisfied

BEREWA

Some kilometers to the north from Kuta, there are Berewa Beach Resort with grey sand. This resort is located rather isolated at the circles of rice fields, but it has some luxurious hotel. There is no public transportation to arrive at this place but the hotel has furnished picking up transportation from and to the Kuta Beach Area.

KUTA

Kuta, legian, Seminyak and Tuban are beach resort area that range lies contiguously from north until south with length about 8 km. For easier people call it Kuta Area. This area is the most popular area and the most densely tourists settlement in bali. A lot of Hotel, many kind of inns, restaurants, bars and shopping complex.

Among these 4 resorts, Kuta is the most popular resost. Kuta is the biggest beach resort in Bali where there are many cheap Inn spreads in many villages. The Inns located on alleys, avenues and Narrow Street.

The most interested moment in Kuta is at the early evening when sun is going to set. Looking sunset is a special attraction for tourists in Kuta Beach. Some tourists enjoy sit on the beach while look at the sea, waiting for sunset moment with one or more cans of beer. If the sun has gone and dark comes, the tourists will leave the beach and going to many kind of restaurants, cafés, discotheques or other Night Entertainment places. They will spend the night in crowded atmosphere there. Other tourists may be would like to go shopping at shopping complex in Kuta.

At kuta Beach, you will find many traveling salesman or peddler offer many kind of goods such as dresses, clothes and souvenirs.

Legian is located in north of Kuta. It has more quiet because Hotels and restaurants here are littler than Kuta. But legian also try to compete with Kuta about everything.

Seminyak area is located in north of Legian. It is quieter city with traffic condition is not too crowded. But the beach is not beautiful as Kuta or Legian Beach.

Tuban is located between Kuta and Ngurah Rai Airport. This area just now developed with it’s beautiful beach and high quality hotel and big mall.


Kuta Beach Resort began to know when a Copra Trader from Denmark opened a Trade Firm in this place. He acts as agent between Local Bali Government and Dutch. This firm has grown at full speed until he did suddenly at 1850. His cemetery and monument have built near by Kuta Fair.

At 1930 a couple of husband and wife from California feel so impressed by beautifully of Kuta. This couple opened the first Hotel in Kuta. The hotel is big enough and named as “Kuta Beach Hotel” but the hotel was closed when japan have control over Bali at 1942. Kuta more popular at 1960 especially as transit resort for Australian tourists who want to continue their journey to Europe. Then some accommodation facilities were built and at the beginning of 1970 Kuta has become a satisfying resort to be visited.

If you like sea sport, Kuta area is right place for you. Here, tourist can do many kind of water sports such surfing, sailing, diving, fishing or rafting. Kuta Legian Beach area has very good wave for learning or playing surfing. The beginner can get rent surfing board that offered in the beach or at hotels, cottages or sport rent shop near by the beach.

For professional surfer, wave of Kuta may be not challenge enough. They will go to surfing at North West Beach of Tanjung Bukit. At this place, there are some beaches that famous for surfing with bigger wave such as Suluban Beach that located near by Ulu Watu, Padang Padang Beach, Bringin Beach and Balangan beach. This beach area have bigger wave than Kuta Legian Beach that the sea is quietly calm.

Other surfing resort that often visited by professional surfer are Nyangnyang Beach and Green Ball Beach, at this beach area, there are 2 luxurious Hotel, Puri Bali Villas and Bali Cliffs Resort. This beach just be crowded by surfers. If the sea is in calm condition, this beach will be quite. The scenery is beautiful but it is not save enough for swimming.

Some shops all along the road on Legian street rent surfboard. These shops also give surfboard reparation service, surfing lesson for beginner nd organize the tourists to go to good place for surfing in Bali.

Children Water Park is located at Tuban Water Boom. Tuban Water Boom furnished swimming pool, water blast down and other water games for children. At Matahari Department store, there are “Time Zone” Children Park. This resort also furnished for bungee jumping, mini golf and horse riding.

SOUTH BALI

South Bali is area on south of Denpasar. It is the most crowded visited by the tourists. Tourism Objects are located in south Bali such as Kuta, Legian, Seminyak, Sanur, Nusa Dua and Tanjung Benoa. There are many hotels and Inns from standard quality until super luxurious. Majority of tourists choose this area for stay over and make it as Base before visiting other objects in Bali.

WEDHI BUDAYA PARK

This Art center Park performs Kecak Dance every night at 06.30 pm until 07.30 pm and other artistic performents. On June until July, this park become as host of Bali Art Festival. This park is located on the corner of between Hayam Wuruk Street and Nusa Indah Street. This park is opened on Tuesday until Sunday at 08.00 am until 05.00 pm.

JAGANATHA PURA

Jaganatha Pura was built at 1953 located beside of Bali State Museum. This Pura was dedicated for worshiping at Universal God, SangHyang Widhi. The Altar of this temple (Padmasana) was made from with rock consist of a throne that put on 2 dragons. It symbolizes foundation of world. The wall was carved with Ramayana and Mahabarata epos. Jaganatha Pura is one of the most often used by Balinese People. They usually come to praying every afternoon so, this pura often be closed for tourists.

BALI STATE MUSEUM

This museum complex consists of some buildings and pavilions. There are some imitation buildings of Balinese Palace and Pura that the buildings form like Bentar temple and Kulkul Tower. The main building of this museum has contents of pra historic goods that made from stone and shopper and traditional equipments that still used until present.

At the north pavilion of the museum, there are many dancing costume collections and kinds of masks. The center pavilion was built like pavilion at KarangAsem Palace Pavilion in Amlapura where The King usually held an audience. The south paviliyon has many kinds of textile collections such as Endek, Head cloth, Songket and Prada. This museum open on Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 08.00 am until 03.45 pm. This museum is closed early on Friday and Saturday.

DENPASAR

Capital of Bali is Denpasar City. This city has become as rapidly economy developing center in Bali. In this city, there are some interesting Museum, Art Center and many Shopping Complexes. Badung Traditional Market known as the biggest and the most crowded market in Bali. In the past time, Denpasar is capital of Badung regency and then become as Capital of Bali province after some area around it like Sanur, Benoa Harbor an Serangan Island decelerate themselves become another administrative city.

Renon Area is located in southeast side from the center of Denpasar. Renon Area has different situation with other tourism resort in Bali. This area is government office area that has Width Street, wide parking area and wide opened area. Many office buildings were built with modern Balinese Architecture and spent much money.

Art festival is hold every year in denpasar for a month, June until July. It was made lively by fullcolour Art Parade moved around Denpasar City. This festival presents many kinds of Balinese Traditional Dances like barong, Fire Kecak, Legong etc. It also presents Balinese Music Ensemble and Balinese Traditional Handicrafts. If you interested to see this festival and want to know the schedule so, you can ask it to the Local Tourism Department.

For shopping, Badung Market is the biggest and the oldest market in Bali. Badung market always crowded either in the morning or in the night. Majority, market visitors come to buying clothes and handicrafts. Near by the market there is Kumbasari Market. At kumbasari Market also sold woven clothes, handicrafts and golden handicrafts. Bird market sells many kinds of birds in beautiful birdcage and other little pets. Go to east of Badung Market, there is shop complex that sell batik Cloth, Balinese Head cloth and many kinds of woven clothes.

Night Amusement Place such as discotheques, bars and nightclubs can be found on along Diponegoro Street or around of Matahari Department Store.

BALI

Almost all of tourists have same comment about Bali. Bali has many beautiful beaches, wonderful mountains, hills with multistory rice fields such a giant nature ladder and green forest. Actually, Bali offers us more. This Gods Island has many wonderful culture which never change by time, never influenced by thousands tourists from other countries in the world.

If we visit Bali, we should not miss the main object of tourism such as Gunung Batur, Gunung Agung, Kuta Beach Region, Tanjung Bukit and Nusa Penida. They present very captivating scenery. Kuta Beach is the most famous and the most crowded beach resort in Bali with many Hotels, Restaurant, Bar, Shopping Complex and other tourism facilities. Ubud is center of Bali Culture and Artistic and center of Art Things Market. In addition, do not forget to visit Pura Luhur Ulu Watu, Rambut Siwi, Tanah Lot and Ulun Danau Bratan.

Bali has crowded population. 95 % of population embraced Balinese Hinduism. The others come from other side of Indonesia such as Javanese, Sumatra and Nusa Tenggara. Balinese Hinduism people have caste in society like India people. But the caste system is not prevailed tightly in daily life. It just prevails in religion activity. About 90% of Balinese Hinduism people contain of Sudra Caste or ordinary category.

Balinese religion is Hind but it is different with India Hinduism. Like India, people worship for 3 Gods, Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. However, beside them, Balinese Hinduism also worship for the Greatest God, they call it SangHyang Widhi. Balinese people believe that there are many spirits anywhere. It indicates that that animism is main point of some Balinese Religion Activities. Good spirits stay in top of mountains and give prosperity to the people and Evil Spirits stay in trees and quite beaches. Balinese people try to stay between these 2 spirit’s powers. Offering flowers or foods always given to the Good Spirits every morning but they also give it to the evil spirits.

There are Pura or Balinese Hinduism Temples everywhere. Balinese people do not visit it every day. They just visit Pura on fixed times. They believe on some holy times, when the Gods and their Ancestors will come down the Pura to meet their worshipers. Therefore, on the time Pura will be very crowded and merry by many activities included in drama show and dancing. Usually every villagehas 3 temples at least, so every village holds 5 until 6 religion festivals at Pura. One of important festival is Galungan that go on until 10 days.

For Balinese people, art has become as their daily life. Art always needed and contain in every activity. Both religion activity,social or culture event and etc. Painting, carving and sculpturing always do in every activity. Many kinds of art things would be displayed in many art festivals and religion festivals and it become as collection of Pura and Palace in Bali.
